About this poll

January 1, 2027 falls on a Friday. Combined with the weekend, the public holiday makes a three-day break from January 1 to 3, and many people extend it with leave to plan a winter getaway. According to the New Year pages of Tatilsepeti, Jolly Tur and Pegasus, the routes that stand out include Cappadocia, Central European cities, Lapland and warm long-haul destinations. This poll gathers domestic and international options in one list to show which route people prefer for New Year.

Routes on the list

From Türkiye the list includes Cappadocia in Nevşehir (Göreme and Ürgüp), Uludağ in Bursa and Sarıkamış in Kars. Central Europe is represented by Prague, Vienna and Budapest. In northern Europe there is Rovaniemi, the centre of Finland's Lapland region, and the warm options are Dubai, Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt and Bangkok. Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, Paris and Rome are added for city-break fans.

How the list was built

Routes were picked from destinations that repeat on the New Year pages of tour operators and airline blogs. The country, location and main feature of each city or region were compared against Wikipedia pages. Prices, visas and flights change often, so they are not part of the poll; check airline and consulate pages for current details.

Short notes on the routes

Jolly Tur promotes Central European tours covering Prague, Vienna and Budapest as a winter fairy-tale route and calls Lapland a trend thanks to the Northern Lights. Visa-free and budget-friendly options include the Balkans and Georgia. Etstur and Tatilsepeti write that Cappadocia tours are popular at New Year within Türkiye. Rovaniemi is the centre of Lapland near the Arctic Circle, Sharm El Sheikh is a Red Sea resort in South Sinai, and Tbilisi has sulfur baths in its Abanotubani district.
