How Oyverin works
This page explains the rules of Oyverin polls: who can vote, how votes are counted and protected, how polls are chosen and how to object to content.
Voting rules
- No sign-up, email or personal details are needed. You vote with a single click.
- Each poll accepts one vote per device. This is enforced with a necessary cookie that holds a random ID.
- No more than 3 votes per poll are accepted from the same network (IP address) within 24 hours, so a household can vote but mass voting is capped.
- Depending on the poll, results are shown right after you vote, at all times or only once the poll closes. This is stated on each poll page.
- When a poll closes it stays online and shows the winner.
Bot and manipulation protection
We never store your raw IP address. We keep only a one-way summary (HMAC-SHA256 with a salt that changes daily) to spot repeated votes. Automated traffic is filtered with Cloudflare Turnstile and rate limits. Votes that are clearly automated or coordinated may be discarded, and the poll page will say so.
Results are not scientific
Oyverin polls are not a scientific opinion survey. There is no representative sample; results only show the preferences of the people who chose to take part. Please do not present them as a public opinion survey.
Election blackout
Under Turkish election law (Law No. 298) and the decisions of the Supreme Election Council, publishing polls about elections is prohibited shortly before voting day. Political polls on Oyverin therefore close automatically for voting and hide their results from 10 days before an election until 1 day after it.
How polls are chosen
Polls are opened by the Oyverin editorial team. Options are chosen from publicly known venues, works and people, based on public information and suggestions sent through the contact form. Businesses cannot pay to add, remove or move an option. If we ever show paid content, it is clearly labelled "Sponsored" and kept separate from the poll results.
Images and sources
Images come from the rights holder's own channels, from free-licence sources or are provided with permission; the source is shown under the image where needed.
Objections and removal
If you think a poll or option is wrong, violates your rights or should be removed, use the contact and takedown form. The form is also linked from every poll. We usually review requests within 72 hours; clearly unlawful content is taken offline during the review. How we handle personal data is described in our privacy notice.
